Active Hands is an initiative based on learning new crafts using DIY kits. It offers enriching and culturally appropriate learning, connects us to our roots, also provides a meaning and purpose to the process of learning and enables connections to the community and to the natural environment.
Each DIY kit offers opportunities to learn about a wide range of materials, tools and processes required for learning a particular craft. The kits are not just engaging but also exploratory in nature thereby developing creative thinking, hand skills, problem-solving, design aesthetics and craft appreciation.
They strive to create products by using local resources, craftsmen, recycled materials and by making thoughtful green choices in design, development and production. The organisation aims to make people realise that Crafting is not just fun, it’s liberating, empowering and calming at the same time.
