Q1. What makes OBP’s skirts eco-friendly?
A1. OBP’s skirts are eco-friendly since they are GOTS certified, made using toxin-free dyes, and made of 100% natural fibers such as organic cotton. This means they are biodegradable and will last longer.
Q2. Why should I switch to eco-friendly skirts?
A2. Natural fibers can be slightly better for your skin than synthetic fibers but not by much. No, the true reason you should make a switch is environmental. Synthetic and non-sustainable clothing releases microplastics, degrades the soil, releases toxins into the atmosphere, all of which harms human health ultimately. Take a step to protect our kids’ futures, by switching to an eco-friendly lifestyle when possible.
A3. What materials are these sustainable kids skirts made of?
A3. These sustainable skirts are made of materials like natural and organic cotton, which while water intensive and pesticide intensive- in the case of conventional cotton- can arguably be a better choice than certain plastic-based fabrics as they are biodegradable. Happy sustainable shopping!
Q4. Are the skirts durable and designed to withstand regular use?
A4. Yes. Sustainability means keeping resources in circulation for longer, so our skirts are made to be as durable as possible, especially keeping in mind regular use and how rough children can get when playing. As long as the care instructions are followed, these organic children’s skirts should last a while. Happy sustainable shopping.
Q5. What kind of sustainable fabrics are used in the production of these skirts?
A5. Fabrics like organic cotton and natural cotton have been used in the production of these skirts. While both can be water intensive at times and conventional cotton definitely is reliant on heavy usage of unhealthy and non-green pesticides, they are still better alternatives than plastic-based synthetic fibers that are used in fast fashion. While some synthetic fibers like Tencel can be argued to be better than others, most plastic-based fibers do not have a circular production system, use fossil fuels and release toxins when made, are non-biodegradable, and release microplastics when washed and worn which can then enter our bodies. Add to that that fast fashion is not meant to last and suddenly we are producing a lot of waste, which can be mitigated with biodegradable slow fashion to an extent. While recycled cotton is the best option, especially when it's mixed with sustainable fabrics like linen or organic cotton, any form of cotton used in slow fashion can be argued to be sustainable, and thus we can say that sustainable fabrics are used in our children’s sustainable skirts collection. Happy sustainable shopping.
